Apple has officially launched iOS and iPadOS 18.2 into public beta, as reported by MacRumors. This update introduces a host of new features, including the second wave of Apple Intelligence tools that were previously available to developers.
Among these are the AI-powered custom emoji feature, Genmoji, and the Image Playground tool, which generates images based on user input.
One of the key additions to the update is ChatGPT integration, allowing users to interact with OpenAI’s AI chatbot directly.
The update also includes Visual Intelligence, which leverages the advanced cameras of the iPhone 16 for enhanced search capabilities, and a more responsive Siri with improved answers to user queries.
In some cases, when Siri cannot respond, ChatGPT can step in to provide an answer. This integration of ChatGPT is free and does not require users to have an OpenAI account.
While some of the Apple Intelligence features are available immediately to those who had access during the developer beta phase, others are still limited by a secondary waitlist.
If you were already testing the features, you will now have access to Writing Tools, ChatGPT, and Visual Intelligence.
However, the Genmoji, Image Wand, and Image Playground features will require users to wait until Apple sends a notification that they’ve been granted access.
In addition to the mobile updates, Apple has also released the public beta for macOS 15.2, which mirrors many of the new features coming to iPhones and iPads.
However, macOS users will not have access to Visual Intelligence, and Genmoji is unavailable on Macs, as it is currently limited to iPhones and iPads.
